Eon by Greg Bear
Multi-national conflict as humans explore an unknown alien artefact.
An excellent novel, even if the portrayal of the Russians seems a bit anachronistic considering today's world order (remember, it was published in 1985 with the Soviet Union still in existence and the Cold War still raging). Believable characters and a plot about a big, dumb object combined with some big ideas makes for a big thumbs up. |
